Try to incorporate a “warm haven” in one of the rooms in your house. This is an important area for you to have so that you can relax after a long day of work or school. Use tranquil colors in this room and try to include a fireplace in this area.

When a room contains too many pieces of furniture or belongings, it can seem cramped, even if the room is of a good size. A better option is to place only a few select pieces of furnishings in the room and maximize your open space.

Arrange your furniture smartly. Walk around your rooms and take different paths: are you able to easily go from one room to the other? Furniture should not be in your way, and yet some items should be made central if you wish to create a theme or a color pattern based on a piece of furniture.
